SPREAD-A-BALE – Micro ST

Launching a new option to the M range of straw spreading machines for dairy producers with 1t to 2t lift capacity loaders – Front-end, Hoff and Skid-Steer, and designed for bedding calf hutches and buildings with narrow access points.

Named the Micro ST (Side Throw), the machine combines a 695kg lightweight steel chassis and bracketing system, and measures 1.78m wide. The header features a single vertical rotor availing side discharge of straw either to the left, to the right or forwards facilitated by the turn of a valve and canopy.

The machine spreads 5’ round straw bales or half a rectangular bale and offers a longitudinal spread pattern of 1m wide and up to 7m throw with minimum dust.

Spread-a-Bale’s Dave Bull explains: “The Micro ST is particularly appealing to owners of 1t capacity loaders with accommodation featuring narrow access doors and passageways from 2m wide.

“The machine will provide dairy farmers with an opportunity to mechanise their straw spreading operation in calf hutches and dry cow accommodation without the dust generated by a turbine chopper machine and subsequently reduce the risk of health issues, particularly amongst youngstock.

In addition, the Micro ST will save up to 75% labour and up to 50% straw over manual spreading whilst they are able to remain outside the pen.” The Micro ST is available from Spread-a-Bale’s dealer network
