NEOGEN – Hoofshield Advance

Hoofshield Advance is the latest addition to Neogen’s comprehensive portfolio of hoof care products.

Hoofshield Advance helps reduce the consequences of poor hoof health on dairy cow performance by providing a unique combination of disinfectant, surfactants, and conditioners to improve general hoof quality.

Hoofshield Advance should be used as an integral part of a foot health management programme to help reduce the risk of disease-causing organisms and the spread of bacteria in dairy herds.

The product has been independently evaluated according to EN 1656, the quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of bactericidal activity of chemical disinfectants used in the veterinary area. It has been proven to be 99.999% effective against the specific organisms responsible for digital dermatitis including Dichelobacter spp., Fusobacterium spp., Prevotella spp., and Treponema spp.

This benefit alone can have substantial positive effects on the overall efficiency of the dairy farm’s operations. By effectively controlling the bacteria responsible for digital dermatitis, Hoofshield Advance helps to mitigate the risk of lameness spreading rapidly throughout the herd. Lameness is a common and endemic problem on dairy farms, and it can have significant financial and animal welfare implications.

Unlike many footbath products, Hoofshield Advance specifically contains no formaldehyde, copper, glutaraldehyde, and quaternary ammonium compounds, to comply with the latest health and safety standards for animals.
