A leading agricultural company has launched a new disinfectant, which is designed to improve calf health & reduce antibiotic usage. “TK SWORDSMAN” formulated by Lancashire-based G Shepherd Animal Health, reduces calf diarrhoea, which is the UK’s most important calf disease, by combating Cryptosporidium, Salmonella, E.coli and also Ringworm fungi.
The novel disinfectant complies with the Biocidal Products Regulations and is formulated, manufactured and tested in the UK. It is one of very few disinfectants proven to inactivate Cryptosporidium oocysts.
TK Swordsman Disinfectant is used to disinfect calf housing and equipment between batches. It is best applied to cleaned surfaces with a foaming lance and left overnight.

Dr. Graham Shepherd, said: “The aim of every producer is to rear healthy calves, which avoid growth setbacks and which develop into strong cattle. TK Swordsman Disinfectant can help to reduce the incidence of scour, which is the main cause of calf death in the UK.
“Diarrhoea can be due to nutritional errors, but commonly is caused by viral infections, including Coronavirus; Cryptosporidium, and bacteria, such as certain E.coli and Salmonella. Infectious scour is definitely reduced by appropriate disinfection.” he added.
